Mark has 25 years experience in consumer facing organisations, starting his career with Lidl as graduate trainee. He has worked in senior executive roles for the past 15 years inside some of the world’s largest organisations including ALDI and Woolworths of Australia.
Paul founded Lancashire’s premier hot yoga studio Yogatown a decade ago, a thriving and well-established venue that provides a unique fitness and well-being experience.
Since our inception, Soul Padel has quickly expanded, establishing state-of-the-art locations that reflect our commitment to quality and community. Each of our courts is designed to inspire and challenge players, providing the perfect setting for both casual games and competitive matches. Padel is typically played in teams of two, with matches consisting of two pairs facing off on a court enclosed by walls. The court is about one third the size of a tennis court, measuring 10 metres wide by 20 metres long, with a net in the middle.
The unique feature of padel is that the walls can be used as part of the game, adding an extra layer of strategy and excitement to each rally.
Unlike tennis or squash rackets, a padel racket is solid with no strings, featuring a perforated surface for better control and power. It’s smaller and lighter than a tennis racket, making it easier to handle and ideal for the quick, reactive gameplay that padel demands.
The ergonomic design helps players maintain precision, whether they’re executing a powerful smash or a delicate drop shot.
Padel balls are similar to tennis balls but with slightly less pressure, giving them a bit less
bounce. This subtle difference means that padel rallies are typically longer and more controlled, allowing for more strategic play.
The ball’s lower bounce, combined with the enclosed court and wall play, creates a game that’s both fast-paced and full of tactical depth.
a team scores a point when:
Padel is always played in doubles.
Padel serves are always underarm and diagonal to the opposite corner.
The side walls can be used in Padel, but the ball must bounce on the opponent’s side before hitting a wall.
To win a match, your team must be the first to win two sets. Each set is won by being the first to win six games with at least a two-game lead. If the set is tied at 6-6, a tie-breaker is played.
