Soul Padel Opens First Scottish Club as Braehead Venue Welcomes Players

New Braehead club now open, marking Soul Padel’s fourth UK location and the first step in a wider Scottish expansion.

19 June 2026 | Braehead, Renfrewshire

Soul Padel has officially opened the doors to its first Scottish club, marking a significant milestone in the company’s continued expansion across the UK.

Located adjacent to Decathlon at Braehead, Renfrewshire, Soul Padel Braehead is now welcoming players to its brand-new facility, featuring four covered courts and a clubhouse designed to provide year-round opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy one of the world’s fastest-growing sports.

The opening represents Soul Padel’s fourth UK venue and the first stage of a wider Scottish growth programme. Additional clubs in Ayr, Irvine and Midlothian have already been signed and confirmed, demonstrating the company’s long-term commitment to growing padel across Scotland.

Founded on a mission to make padel more accessible, Soul Padel has built its reputation on creating welcoming, community-focused clubs that encourage people to meet, play and connect. The organisation’s approach combines high-quality facilities with inclusive programmes designed to engage complete beginners, families, social players and competitive athletes alike.

Braehead builds on Soul Padel’s successful partnership with Decathlon, following the opening of Soul Padel Stockport adjacent to the retailer in 2024. The new Scottish venue further strengthens that relationship while creating an accessible destination where retail, sport and community come together.

The club is managed by qualified padel coach Craig McBride, who will lead a team delivering coaching, social sessions, competitions and community engagement activities throughout the year.

Soul Padel’s established participation programmes are also being introduced at Braehead, including Soul Sisters, focused on increasing women’s participation, Soul Timers, aimed at the growing over-50s market, and What’s That Racket?, the company’s schools initiative that provides free court access and supports youth participation pathways.

Mark Hewlett, CEO and Founder of Soul Padel, said:

“The opening of Soul Padel Braehead is a major milestone for our business and an exciting moment for padel in Scotland.

“Scotland has been a priority market for us for some time. We’ve seen growing interest in the sport and believe there is a tremendous opportunity to create clubs that combine high-quality facilities with a genuine sense of community.

“Today marks the beginning of our Scottish journey. With additional clubs already confirmed in Ayr, Irvine and Midlothian, we are making a long-term commitment to Scotland and investing in infrastructure that will help more people discover the sport.

“Everything we do is built around creating welcoming environments where people can meet, play and connect.

“Alongside our facilities and coaching offer, we’re introducing Soul Sisters, Soul Timers and What’s That Racket?, programmes that help us engage new audiences and strengthen connections with local communities, schools and partners.

“Padel is uniquely positioned to bring people together through sport, and we’re excited to see that happen across Scotland.”

The opening comes as padel continues its rapid growth throughout the UK, with increasing participation, growing investment in facilities and rising awareness helping to accelerate the sport’s development nationwide.

Courts at Soul Padel Braehead are available to book now through Playtomic, with coaching sessions, social events and community activities already underway.
