In partnership with Golden Point Padel UK, Soul Padel launches the UK’s biggest amateur padel competition
Soul Padel is proud to announce the inaugural Stockport Open, a landmark grassroots padel tournament set to take place at Soul Padel Stockport on 19–20 July 2025, in partnership with Golden Point Padel UK.
With a £10,000 prize pot, equally split between the men’s and women’s draws, The Stockport Open is the UK’s biggest amateur padel event, designed to give club-level players a high-stakes, high-energy tournament experience.
Each tournament (men’s on Saturday 19 July, women’s on Sunday 20 July) offers 40 team places, with entry at £50 per player. Players must sign up as a pair, and each pair must have a maximum combined Playtomic rating of 7.0, keeping the competition focused squarely on grassroots participants. All teams are guaranteed at least three group-stage matches, with knockout rounds to follow.
“This is a grassroots tournament for amateurs with a kicker, a £10,000 prize pool,” said Mark Hewlett, CEO and Founder of Soul Padel. “At Soul Padel, we welcome everyone to the court, whether you’re playing for fun or chasing competitive goals,” said Mark Hewlett, CEO and Founder of Soul Padel. “The Stockport Open is a celebration of the competitive amateur scene. No pros, no fly-ins from Spain, just club players vs club players.”

Equal prize money and equal tournament slots reflect Soul Padel’s commitment to inclusive and accessible padel. Off the court, both players and spectators can enjoy food trucks, a live DJ, sponsor stalls, and exciting giveaways, turning the event into a full weekend festival of padel.
Hewlett added, “There are plenty of tournament formats out there right now and that’s great for the game, it shows how fast padel is growing in the UK. But we’re focused on doing things differently. The Stockport Open is about making serious competition available to the many, not the few. We see this as the future, local, regional, and national amateur tournaments with meaningful incentives. This is just the beginning.”
Bookings open at 6pm Friday 27 June on Playtomic
