Soul Padel to open permanent site in Stockport

The venue will feature canopy-covered courts and a clubhouse.

Soul Padel will open a permanent, four-court padel facility in Stockport. Located adjacent to a store operated by sports goods retailer Decathlon, the courts are set to open in early Spring 2025.

The venue will feature canopy-covered courts and a clubhouse and is being launched following the success of Soul Padel’s temporary Stockport courts, which saw growing demand and consistent bookings.

According to Mark Hewlett, founder of Soul Padel, the Stockport expansion plans signal the company’s continued commitment to growing padel in the UK, ensuring that the sport “remains affordable and accessible to all”.

“At Soul Padel, our vision is to welcome everyone to the court,” Hewlett said.

“We’re proud that more than 19% of our members come from ethnic minorities. What’s more, most of our players had never played before joining us.

“In our view, padel should never have the perception of being elitist. At Soul Padel, every decision we take is dedicated to ensuring everyone has the opportunity to participate.”

Soul Padel has also invested in coaching programmes which aim to develop players at all levels, ensuring that newcomers and experienced players alike have the opportunity to improve their skills.

The structured coaching programmes are designed to foster talent from the grassroots level up, enhancing the experience for all members.”
